This restaurant offers authentic Nepali home-style cooking. "Dal" is a lentil soup and "Bhat" is rice, similar to miso soup and rice in Japan. These are served as the base for a one-plate meal with tarkari (spiced vegetable stew), mas (meat curry), achar (pickles), and more. The Nepali style is to mix a little bit of the dal soup, tarkari, curry, etc. onto the rice and eat it together. I ordered the "Dal Bhat Double Chicken + Kasi (goat meat) for 1700 yen. The chicken curry was undeniably delicious. On the other hand, the Kasi curry had a unique flavor that you don't find easily elsewhere. The meat was very tender and delicious. The tarkari and dal soup were low in salt, and adding achar or chili paste from the table provided a nice accent! The dal soup is refillable, and the staff kindly offered me a refill. The rice portion was a bit small, but the dal soup was surprisingly filling, and I left feeling full.

Located near the Cerulean Tower in Minami-daina, Shibuya, "Nepali Ko" is a renowned Nepalese restaurant famous for its dal bhat (dal soup + white rice). While there are multiple sets available during lunchtime, the dal bhat set is a must-try. The chicken set costs ¥1,200, the kukura set ¥1,300, the lamb set ¥1,350, and the kashi (goat meat) set ¥1,400, offering a range of options. For first-timers, the standard chicken set is recommended. There's also a vegetarian option called "veji" for ¥1,100. The restaurant features a terrace seating area outside and inside, with a counter seating five on the left, and tables on the right and in the back. Upon arrival, a salad is served first, followed by the set. The centerpiece is a large bhat (white rice) with dal soup, chicken curry, achar, tarkari, and papad. Start by savoring each individual flavor. The dal soup is surprisingly light and warm, offering a comforting taste. Mixing it with the chicken curry and tarkari creates a balanced flavor profile when enjoyed with rice. The dal soup is refillable, and they bring a fresh, hot serving upon request. For a change of pace, try adding some of the chili sauce provided on the table, but be warned, it's spicier than expected! However, it adds a nice kick. If you're craving delicious dal bhat, be sure to visit Nepali Ko.

I had the Dal Bhat Double (chicken and lamb) for lunch at a popular Nepali home-style restaurant. It's a plate like a Japanese set meal, with rice, soup, side dishes (curry), and pickles. The spices are perfectly balanced, emphasizing flavor over heat. The curry is delicious on its own, but the harmony of flavors is even better when you mix in the achar (pickles) and the zhak dal soup. The spices blend together to create an even deeper flavor. This is truly spice magic!!! The vegetables, beans, and spices are cooked with minimal oil, making the overall experience light and refreshing. It's a delicious meal that doesn't feel heavy on the stomach! Dal Bhat Double (chicken and lamb, 1600 yen) Turmeric cumin rice change (+120 yen)

The curry was a symphony of ingredients and spices, leaving me in a state of constant delight. It evoked a sense of spring, with the flavors reminiscent of a serene forest, a sparkling spring, and delicate flowers blooming around it. The pure and unadulterated flavors were incredibly comforting, creating a harmonious world where ingredients and spices coexisted in perfect balance. The peaceful atmosphere was truly remarkable. The kind and attentive service was a welcome addition. Thank you so much. It was delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎🍽Let's eat!🍽◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎ 🍛Dal Baat Chicken This plate with salad, dal (lentil soup), and baat (rice) comes with chicken curry and curry-flavored stews, it's simply irresistible! Let's start with the chicken curry! The boneless, incredibly tender chicken and spices are truly flavorful, but the curry is just the right amount of spice, it's so delicious!! Next up is the dal (lentil soup), and it's amazing! The comforting sweetness of the lentils is delicious, with a savory and ginger-infused flavor! When you pick up the bowl, it's super hot!! But I love to just gulp it down, so it's perfect! The curry-flavored stew with potatoes and daikon radish! Oh, it seems this is called tarkari (vegetable curry)! The spices are truly flavorful, and it's so tender, it was absolutely amazing! Finally, I mixed it all up and devoured it in one go!! ▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎▶︎🍽Thank you for the meal!🍽◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎◀︎ And after the meal, chai appeared! The chai varies quite a bit depending on the restaurant, so it might be fun to enjoy the differences between chai, lassi, and other drinks.
