Located about a 5-minute walk from the Hikarie entrance of Shibuya Station, this is a long-established Korean barbecue restaurant that has been in business for over 50 years since 1971! It has been selected as one of the Tabelog Hundred Famous Restaurants. Many celebrities have visited this restaurant. The menu is basically "おまかせ" (omakase), meaning you'll be served a variety of meats one after another. Stop eating a little before you're full. At Koryotei, the first piece of meat is presented as a sample, and the kind mama wraps it in a lettuce leaf and feeds it to you with a "アーン" (aan) gesture. After that, the meat is generally grilled for you. They grill large cuts of kalbi, harami, and other meats, then cut them with scissors. The quality of the meat is high, but the perilla leaves and green chili peppers that you wrap in the lettuce complement the meat, making the fat less noticeable and allowing you to eat more. The atmosphere of the restaurant, the kindness of the mama, the thoughtful touches like the fruit platter and sweets, everything was wonderful! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal! ❰Menu❱ - Napa cabbage kimchi - Kkakdugi (radish kimchi) - Namul (seasoned vegetables) - Lettuce - Perilla leaves - Korean seaweed - Green chili peppers - Yukhoe (secret menu) - Tongue - Kalbi (short ribs) - Fillet - Harami (skirt steak) - Ichibou (shoulder clod) - Fruit platter - Sweets
I ordered the highly anticipated Koryotei Omakase Course. The staff grilled everything for us! They even cut the meat and made the first bite for us as a lettuce wrap. The yukke, tan-sal (salted beef tongue), and zabuton were all delicious. The zabuton was a large, rare cut that was incredibly impressive! Definitely coming back again. Thank you for the delicious meal!
Located a 6-minute walk from Shibuya Station, this restaurant is famous for its mom who wraps meat in lettuce and feeds it to you. It's a historic yakiniku restaurant with a loyal following of regulars and celebrities. As soon as you sit down, the mom puts an apron on everyone ♡ The omakase course includes: ▫️ Yukke ▫️ Appetizers ・ Namul ・ Kimchi ・ Kakuteki ・ Sanchu ・ Perilla leaf pickle ・ Green chili pepper ・ Korean seaweed ・ Seaweed kimchi ▫️ Tongue ▫️ Zabuton ▫️ Fillet ▫️ Skirt steak ▫️ Ichibou ▫️ Fruit ▫️ Popcorn ▫️ Tonigari corn The meat is basically served omakase style, with a stop system! Once everything is served, they ask about your stomach's capacity. (You can stop midway if you're full) The meat comes out in large chunks, making a big impact ✨ The mom wraps the meat, kimchi, perilla leaf pickle, and two pieces of Korean seaweed in lettuce and feeds it to you! You might think, 'Is lettuce really that good?' but don't underestimate it! The spicy perilla leaf adds a nice accent and it's delicious ✨ The off-menu yukke is also delicious, with a sweet sauce and a smooth texture! It's small, so I want to order one for each person next time. They automatically refill your oolong tea and ice, and they grill all the meat for you, so it's truly a pampering experience... For dessert, you get a fruit platter and a ton of popcorn. This time, they also brought out tonigari corn. And when you're about to finish the popcorn, they automatically refill it. I'm sure it's an endless refill system... lol
This is a restaurant we visit once every few years. It's notoriously difficult to get a reservation, so we usually book well in advance and adjust our schedules to match the date everyone can make it. Of course, the meat is delicious, but what really sets this place apart is the incredible hospitality. The owner, whom we affectionately call 'Ommoni,' personally wraps the first bite of meat in lettuce for each guest and even cleans our glasses smudged with smoke and grease. It's truly a special experience.
This yakiniku restaurant is my monthly go-to! I always order the chef's recommendations and they never disappoint. Their secret menu curry and samgye-tang are also amazing! Everyone is so friendly, I love it here. Thanks for the delicious meal!
