Established in 1983, this is a long-standing Russian restaurant. On this day, I was in Asakusa for lunch, celebrating the grand opening of a friend's chiropractic clinic. Since I was there, my friend and I decided to try this place, a soul food spot that the clinic owner had been eating since childhood. The classic lunch menu offers a choice of main courses: the "Larousse" lunch set (¥3,080). It includes a mini salad, borscht, your choice of main course, bread or rice, Russian tea or Russian coffee. The main course options are: cabbage rolls, roast beef steak, beef stroganoff, and crab and shrimp roll croquettes. I chose the famous cabbage rolls, based on my friend's recommendation. The cabbage rolls, which are prepared over three days, have a melt-in-your-mouth texture that sets them apart from other restaurants. Personally, I also enjoyed the borscht. They even gave us dessert as a gesture of apology for the delayed service. 🍨 This is definitely a must-visit spot in Asakusa.
I visited for lunch. The tender cabbage rolls and the roll steak were both delicious. Above all, the staff's service was incredibly pleasant. Russian food in Asakusa might be a good idea!
Lunch on the last day of Golden Week. I arrived around noon and there were 6-7 tables in the back of the restaurant. There were 4 groups dining, mostly older people. I chose the beer stroganoff from the ¥3,500 course (including tax and service charge). I also ordered a 2-piece piroshki. Everything was delicious and I was able to enjoy a relaxing time. The food came out at a good pace and the waitstaff was efficient and friendly. Payment is at the register, not at the table. When I left, the restaurant was almost full and there was one group waiting outside. Reservations are probably a must. I definitely want to come back again. Next time, I'll try the cabbage rolls!
We visited this restaurant for a late lunch during our Asakusa sightseeing trip. We were walking around, thinking that everything would be closed by this time, when we discovered this charming place and decided to go in. We were amazed by the authentic borscht, calvados, and beef stroganoff, and enjoyed the delicious course. We were also tempted by the non-alcoholic Normandy apple juice, but ended up having the restaurant's recommended white wine, followed by red wine and calvados after the meal. This became the best memory of our Asakusa sightseeing trip.
