I went there specifically for the melon pancake, and it was truly delicious, the best! It's a classic old-fashioned coffee shop, so smoking is allowed (non-smokers are guided to a separate smoking area), and children are not permitted. I liked the old-fashioned coffee shop atmosphere. Also, they only accept cash.
This place is famous for its melon cake, but... it's quite a lot of food, so I was hesitant. But then I saw their lunch menu and it looked delicious, so I decided to come in. I was in the mood for bread, so I ordered a sandwich. ✍️ They have 7 different kinds, which is amazing. I was initially going to get the mixed sandwich without thinking, but the staff member asked if I was okay with it not being grilled. Nice assist, lady! I love grilled sandwiches, so I changed my order to the BLT sandwich. 🙃 The coffee that came with the set arrived super fast, so I was able to drink it while I waited. It took less than 10 minutes, so the service was quick. The ingredients were packed in tightly, which was great. The round, triangular shape was also irresistible. There were 4 of them, so it was a lot of food, which was awesome. 🫶 The outside was crispy and delicious! The tomatoes were juicy and refreshing. 🍅 I devoured it. 🙃 I thought the price was a bit high when I ordered, but considering the amount of food and the taste, it's reasonable for being right in the heart of Ginza. 👌
This is a coffee shop located on the basement floor of the Nishi Ginza Department Store. It's famous for being the place where writer Kunihiko Mukoda wrote her manuscripts after working at the Asahi Shimbun in Yurakucho. I recently learned about this, to my shame, and decided to visit. Mukoda-san apparently wrote at the seat just to the left of the entrance, below where the television used to be. She reportedly ordered a mixed sandwich there. The mixed sandwich is listed on the back of the paper menu, but I couldn't find it. So, I ordered the melon pancake, a signature dish that was introduced 10 years ago. It was quite large, which surprised me. When I cut it open, I found that the crust was made of pancake and the inside contained melon. It was very delicious, but I think it's best to share it with two or more people. I'll order the mixed sandwich next time. It was a wonderful coffee shop.
Ginza Nine 1, located on the west side of the building, is a great spot for smokers who appreciate fine things, creatives, and business meetings. By the way, cigars and pipes are not allowed! It's a bit pricey, but with newspapers and magazines available, you can easily spend an hour or more with just a cup of coffee. The ashtrays and coasters are also stylishly designed! The pin badges are 300 yen. I don't need Starbucks, I want more places like this that understand my tastes. You'll understand if you try it! It's also nice to get a discount coupon when you pay.
I always go to this place when I'm in Ginza or Yurakucho. 👍✨ It's a great spot to relax and enjoy a cigarette. I heard they used to have a no-smoking policy, but I'm glad they brought smoking back. They don't allow strong-smelling cigarettes though, like pipes, cigars, Gharam, or Black Devil. They also have seasonal pancakes. The White Snow pancake is a seasonal item. The tiramisu pancake is no longer available. 😭
