This restaurant serves lunch from Wednesday to Friday and Saturday. One of their specialties is their freshly fried "aji-fry" (horse mackerel). Another highlight is their fresh seafood. The interior is moderately sized and extends towards the back. It has a nostalgic "Showa-era izakaya" (Japanese pub) feel. I ordered: - "Tenkanburi Sashi" (chilled yellowtail sashimi) and "Aji-fry" set - 1750 yen + "Nama Maguro Sashimi" (fresh tuna sashimi) - 1200 yen - "Katsuo to Ninniku Piri Kara Zuke Don" (bonito and garlic spicy marinated rice bowl) - 1550 yen + "Aji-fry" - 550 yen The set meals come with small side dishes. They have a delicious "koryori-ya" (small restaurant) flavor. The rice is neither too hard nor too soft, and it goes well with the seafood. The miso soup is a small portion, which is just right. The fluffy "aji-fry" is small but charming. The sashimi is fresh and flavorful, making you want to drink sake. The bonito and garlic marinated rice bowl tastes like "yukke-don" (raw beef rice bowl), and the texture is similar, so I couldn't help but imagine "yukke" while eating it. The garlic is quite strong, so if you like garlic, I recommend ordering it.
I had lunch here. The fried mackerel and oyster set was delicious. The fried mackerel was thick and plump. It came with a small dish of seasonal bamboo shoots in a simmered sauce. This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. ❤️ I want to come back for dinner and try the sake and grilled bamboo shoots next time!
I had lunch with bluefin tuna and horse mackerel fry. The horse mackerel fry was fluffy and crispy. The bluefin tuna was melt-in-your-mouth and had little fishy smell. Both were very delicious and I would like to eat them again. The price was around 2000 yen, which was as expected.
The lunch menu looked quite appealing, so I went in. The lady running the place was a bit too familiar, using casual language, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. Still, I ordered a few options. The lunch ended up being a bit pricey for what it was, though. After I finished eating, the lady quickly took away my tray, practically kicking me out. It was a holiday afternoon and the place was empty. I wanted to spend a little more time there. The food was decent, but I think I understand why the reviews are not so good.
