The service was warm and welcoming, and the staff were very kind. The atmosphere was also excellent. I had the chef's choice sushi, and every piece was absolutely delicious. I was blown away by the quality. I definitely want to come back here for a special occasion.
The exterior doesn't immediately scream "sushi restaurant," but stepping inside reveals a refined sushi establishment. I visited during cherry blossom season, and the vase was adorned with cherry blossoms, which was incredibly charming. The rice was not overly sour, but rather mellow and very easy to eat. The way Masuda-san meticulously shaped the rice was truly artistic. The form was so beautiful. Starting with appetizers, I finally got to try the highly anticipated shark fin chawanmushi, and it was, as expected, delicious and truly impressive. The kawahagi nigiri was my first time trying it, and it was absolutely delicious! Also, the whitefish roe gunkanmaki was incredibly tasty! I think these two dishes are probably only available at Masuda-san's. Of course, the other nigiri were also very delicious. What struck me was how the second-in-command expertly peeled the shrimp, arranging the shells neatly. It was beautiful to watch. Another customer arrived quite late, but Masuda-san was very kind and served all the appetizers and nigiri in between, adapting to the situation. Masuda-san was approachable and easy to talk to, but the second-in-command was also very easy to talk to, and we had a very enjoyable and delicious sushi experience. I definitely want to go back.
A sushi restaurant that recently opened in Omotesando. Although it's said that a popular restaurant from before has recently reopened. The restaurant is new, clean, and has a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The staff, including the head chef, are all young! But they are attentive and provide excellent service. The sushi is delicious, of course, and the occasional conversation is enjoyable. This is definitely a place I want to visit regularly.
Sushi Masuda reopened in January, and I went to check it out right away! It's close to Omotesando, at the end of an alleyway, so taxi drivers should be careful, haha. It's on the first floor of a new building, bright and with a French-like appearance, but once you step inside, it's a traditional Japanese sushi restaurant. 😁 There's a main counter for 8 people where Masuda-san prepares the sushi, and a private counter where the second-in-command prepares the sushi. The style of serving the food and then the sushi hasn't changed. The rice isn't as vinegary as it used to be. 😊 It's still delicious! I'm so glad it's back! 🥰 Thank you for the meal! I look forward to coming back again. 🙇♀️
In a world of sushi chefs who love to chat, this one is refreshingly quiet. He doesn't try to sell you on his food with words, he lets the flavors speak for themselves. The ingredients are top-notch, the craftsmanship is top-notch, so of course it's delicious. The appetizers are so good, they almost overshadow the sushi. The rice is white, not red vinegar, which I think is meant to highlight the flavors of the ingredients. It reminds me of the rice at Jiro's, but with a slightly less salty flavor. I prefer red vinegar rice, but this was a nice change of pace. The location is tucked away in a back alley, the kind of place you'd never find without a reservation. It's hard to park, so first-timers might have a bit of trouble finding it. Thank you for the delicious meal.
