A Weekend-Only Castella Shop in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Located just a 5-minute walk from the station, this shop is nestled amidst a charming area filled with cafes and boutiques. Open only on weekends, it's common for the castella to sell out by lunchtime. The castella itself is delightfully fluffy and not overly sweet, making it a perfect treat. The packaging is also very charming, making it ideal for gifts. The interior is beautifully decorated with adorable furnishings.
They don't make extra to account for holidays or expected crowds, so during long weekends, they sell out by 1 p.m. The castella itself is ordinary, except for the butter. The selection is always too poor, so I probably won't go back. They should consider increasing the quantity of goods or taking some measures for customers.
While they're known for their castella cake, my personal recommendation is the cheesecake! The castella is fluffy and moist, incredibly delicious. It comes individually wrapped in a stylish way, making it perfect for a gift or a small present. There are different varieties of castella, so you can enjoy the taste differences. They also have a refrigerated section with various cup parfaits using castella as the sponge. Every time I go, I end up buying too much because both the appearance and the taste are so wonderful. The cheesecake is rich and the crunchy base is also very delicious. They seem to sell out within about two hours of opening, so I recommend going right when they open.
I visited this place because it was recommended and I was in the neighborhood. It's a nice shop with a bit of a vintage feel. I bought a castella cake (plain) and my family got a caramel macchiato in a cup. We ate them while watching the autumn leaves in Kiyosumi Park, and both were delicious. The staff were also very kind.
The stylish interior and the friendly, attentive service left a strong impression. Their dedication to providing courteous service to all customers was truly commendable. I visited after seeing it featured in CREA magazine. It was a Sunday around 11:00 am, and I waited for about 20 minutes. I tried both the vanilla and butter flavors. The vanilla was unremarkable, nothing particularly special. The butter, however, was delicious, with a rich flavor and a satisfyingly smooth texture.
