I'd always seen a line whenever I passed by, so I was curious if it was really that good. One day, I happened to walk by and there was no line outside, so I decided to go in. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by a delicious smell! Freshly baked salt bread! So many different kinds of salt bread! I went home and tried it right away. The bread had a chewy texture, almost like a French baguette, with just the right amount of saltiness. It was good, but... personally, it wasn't the kind of place I'd want to visit again and again (sweat). It was even better when I warmed it up a bit in the microwave! Still, I'm glad I finally got to try it since I'd been curious about it for so long. There was also space to eat inside the store.
This bakery, located in Honjo Azumabashi, Sumida-ku, has always had a line whenever I pass by, so I finally decided to give it a try! *There is no eat-in space inside the store.* I arrived a little before 7:30 am, the opening time, and there was already a line. I waited about 30 minutes before I could buy anything. I could see them baking non-stop, but they seemed to be struggling to keep up with the large number of people buying in bulk. I was surprised by how affordable everything was. Maybe it's because it's a salt bread, but the salt on top of the bread was quite salty, especially the ham and cheese! The saltiness was more balanced in the other breads, which I liked. There are 5 main menu items, and a few other limited-time offerings. *You can't see what the other items are unless you go inside the store.* ◎Items Purchased (See attached photo) There are purchase limits for salt bread, salt melon bread, and salt bread sandwiches per person. ◎Payment (See attached photo) Credit cards, transportation cards, QR payments, etc. ◎Business Hours 7:30 am - 7:00 pm, except Tuesdays. *Closed on Tuesdays.* ◎Plastic Bags (See attached photo) You get a free bag at checkout. Hi everyone, it's Food Intoxication Gourmet here. Today, I'm introducing Pan Maison, a bakery famous for its salt bread, located in Honjo Azumabashi. In my personal opinion, it's the best and most cost-effective bakery in Japan. I arrived at 9:00 AM today. Miraculously, there was no line, and I was able to enter without waiting. (Note: Even when there's a line, it moves quickly, so the wait isn't too long.) As usual, I ordered a ton of bread today. Haha. Salt bread x 8 (¥110 each) Cheese ham bread x 2 (¥170 each) Egg ham bread x 2 (¥170 each) Spicy cod roe bread x 2 (¥220 each) Melon bread x 2 (¥170 each) The limit for salt bread is 15 per person. Other breads are limited to 2 per person. Personally, my favorite is the cheese ham bread, but it's a shame they only allow 2. Haha. Even with all this, the total came out to only ¥2100, which is incredibly cheap. Haha. I always end up ordering too much when I come here. Haha. And every time, I end up feeling sick. Haha. But the salt bread is truly delicious. The outside is crispy, and the inside is buttery and smooth. I've never had salt bread this good. It lives up to its high rating on Tabelog, so I highly recommend everyone try it!
There are lines in the morning and at lunchtime. The saltiness is subtle and delicious. You can only buy up to 20 salt bread rolls and 15 salt melon bread per person. The salt melon bread and salt truffle bread are good, but the regular salt bread is really tasty. It's even better when it's freshly baked. I think the baked sweet potato salt bread is my favorite. The shop is located at the intersection of Asakusa-dori and Sumidai-dori. It's about a 1-2 minute walk from the A3 exit of Honjo-Azumabashi Station on the Toei Asakusa Line.
After having lunch at Kyujitsu Mont Blanc, I was walking towards the Sumida River when I spotted a line. I realized it was the salt bread shop my daughter had bought from before, so I joined the queue immediately. (The nearest station is Honjo-Azumabashi Station on the Toei Asakusa Line. It's a 2-3 minute walk from the station.) When I started queuing, there were about 10 people, but the line moved quite quickly, and I was able to enter the shop in about 10 minutes. I asked the people behind me for recommendations, and they suggested the salt melon bread. The menu was extensive, and even though I had asked for recommendations, I was tempted by all the delicious-looking options. In the end, I bought three salt melon breads, three salt breads, and two salt bread sandwiches with premium red bean and butter. The staff were very efficient, and I understood why the line moved so quickly. Everything was delicious, and I was very satisfied. The recommended salt melon bread was indeed delicious. They have a shop in Ginza too, so I'm going to visit that one next time.
