An authentic Italian restaurant deeply rooted in the local community of Kinshicho. The chef and staff are overflowing with love for Italy, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. The wine selection is also carefully curated.
We started with the six-piece appetizer platter, but half of the dishes felt a bit bland for a drinker like me. The smoked salmon and liver pâté were delicious. Since it was my first visit, I asked the staff for their recommendations, and they suggested the house-made ham. It had a strong pepper flavor that I really enjoyed. I also ordered the salsiccia, which was delicious along with the celery and carrot side dishes. However, the venison roast, which was recommended, was dry and disappointing. It seemed like we got a bad piece of meat. The staff recommended a wine, but it didn't really stand out to me. From the moment we walked in, it was so hot that other customers were eating in just T-shirts. I mentioned how hot it was, but the temperature didn't change much. The staff were wearing light clothing, so I guess they were fine, but I felt the temperature had a big impact on the dining experience. I wondered if this is the kind of place that gets a Bib Gourmand.
Overall, the food was delicious and very much to my liking. (The saltiness was distinct.) The carbonara didn't use cream, and the saltiness of the salsiccia was really well-balanced. It was the first time I've had a carbonara that I truly enjoyed. It was a shame that there was only one type of glass wine available when we went. The service from the female staff was a bit... off, but (it's probably just a matter of personal preference, and it's not appropriate to comment on service at a restaurant of this price range), I would definitely visit again when I'm in the Kinshicho area.
The dinner was a delight from the homemade mortadella to the final bistecca. I was amazed to learn that they make their own mortadella despite the fact that they can't import pigs from Italy. I tried it out of curiosity and it was incredibly delicious! It had a richer flavor than the strange pink mortadella you find in Italy and I couldn't resist ordering more. The next course, a selection of appetizers, was a paradise for me, as I love trying different things. The tripe and lampredotto were perfect for stuffing into bread, the caponata had a rich flavor, and the scallops had a perfect balance of acidity that paired beautifully with the acidity of the Chianti Montalbano. The seafood tagliatelle was also incredible, with the pasta's firmness perfectly complementing the ocean flavors. I wanted to soak up the sauce with a pillow! The scampi were also perfectly plump and delicious. Finally, we were presented with a T-bone steak, standing tall like a tower. The beautiful pink meat was devoured with salt, pepper, and oil. We scraped every bit of meat off the bone, and finished with a cute cup of espresso. It was a truly memorable meal. I didn't have any sparkling or white wine, but Tuscan cuisine doesn't need it when you have a good red wine to pair with it. I had a wonderful time, listening to the chef and the cameriera speak Italian. Thank you for the delicious meal!
I'm a regular here. The food and atmosphere are authentic and truly capture the essence of the place. Every dish is unique and unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. The rich and creamy seafood broth was so flavorful, I didn't want to leave a single drop! It was truly impactful. Beautiful.
