For an extra 150 yen, you can get a morning set that includes two slices of bread, an egg, and yogurt. It's a steal! There are many great deals to be found in Kinshicho in the morning.
Almost everyone inside smokes, making it a haven for smokers. It's a famous 24-hour coffee shop in the area, and the moderate buzz is perfect for getting work done. The Filipino staff can be a bit passive, so you need to be proactive to get their attention. But for someone like me who enjoys a bit of absurdity and inconvenience, this quirk is actually a plus. The second floor is a mahjong parlor, but they also have tables with mahjong game cabinets. It's a relaxing and pleasant space.
I visited this place when I was in Kinshicho. It was late, but I was very grateful that it was a 24-hour coffee shop. All the seats are booth seats, which makes it very relaxing. I ended up staying there for longer than I intended. They allow both regular and electronic cigarettes at the tables. It seems like there are a lot of smokers, so I wouldn't recommend it to non-smokers. The menu is also very "old-fashioned coffee shop" style, which is somehow nostalgic and comforting. I'd like to try the food menu next time I visit!
October 5, 2024 **Smoking Allowed** Both electronic and traditional cigarettes are permitted. There is no designated smoking area. If you are a non-smoker, this is not the place for you. **Service? Food Value?** Don't even think about it. This is a place to relax and enjoy a cigarette. It can get crowded depending on the day and time, but I've never been turned away. Hot Cafe Au Lait ¥600 I usually only order drinks, but I tried the food for the first time recently. The cream stew was unfortunately sold out. Pork Ginger Lunch (11:30 AM - 2:00 PM) ¥850 Other times ¥950 The flavors are bold, so I could even handle a large portion of rice. I was full and satisfied. It's surprisingly quiet, unless the staff are chatting with regulars. The hustle and bustle of the city feels like a distant memory as time flows slowly here. **Update:** I had the cream stew rice on a later visit. It was a standard cream stew.
A retro-style cafe. Smoking is permitted (including cigarettes). Non-smokers should probably avoid this place. It was frequented by a wide range of people, from young to old. The iced cafe au lait I ordered was a bit weak, but maybe that's part of the Showa era charm?
