I was intrigued by the inari (sushi pockets) and mitarashi dango (mochi dumplings). I decided to get them to go and eat them in Kinshi Park. I enjoyed the mitarashi dango on a bench while gazing at the Skytree. The generous amount of sauce was delicious.
I found this place around 1 pm on a Saturday when all the nearby Western and Chinese restaurants had long lines. They only had mitarashi dango (sweet soy sauce mochi balls). I bought some onigiri (rice balls) and dango. They were definitely better than anything I could get at a convenience store! The mochi rice in the onigiri and dango was cooked perfectly, and the size of each onigiri was just right. The mitarashi dango had a rich, slightly salty soy sauce flavor that was delicious!
Drawn in by the charming storefront, I purchased onigiri and anko dango. The prices were reasonable. Personally, I preferred the onigiri. The compact onigiri contained just the right amount of filling. The anko dango might be considered plain by some.
The quaint streets lined with old-fashioned buildings caught my eye, and I decided to stop in. The moment I saw the 'Isobe Maki' (seaweed and rice) with sweet miso dumplings, I knew it was going to be delicious. My personal opinion! This simple, unpretentious flavor, unlike anything I've ever tasted before, made me question everything I thought I knew about rice balls. It's a taste of traditional Japan that I'll definitely seek out again if I'm ever in the neighborhood.
You can enjoy delicious Japanese sweets here. They weren't too sweet and were very tasty.
