I finally made a dinner reservation at the famous Tsukiji restaurant I had been wanting to try for a special occasion. The restaurant is located on Marronnier Street, heading towards Tsukiji, past Kamei Bridge and a little beyond the Tsukiji Police Station. We arrived at 7:15 PM on a Monday, and the restaurant was already full with us being the last table. It's always busy, but it was packed again tonight. The entrance is a small windbreak room, with an open kitchen counter to the left. There are three tables in front and about four more in the back. It's a popular place, so there were two chefs in their kitchen uniforms and three servers. The menu is a fixed 8,800 yen course with drinks ordered separately. We started with beer, served in glasses. The first dish was drunken crab (醉青蟹), a sweet and rich crab meat and egg dish marinated in Shaoxing wine. It was a delicious and satisfying start to the meal. They provided finger bowls, so we could eat it with our hands and wash them with the beer. It was an amazing first dish. Next came a spicy and sour chicken and egg dish, meat dumplings, fish, meat, soup, fried sauce noodles, and finally a lychee and taro dessert. It was a series of creative and delicious Chinese dishes that made for a very satisfying dinner. The drunken crab was especially delicious. Thank you for the meal. I hear their lunch dishes like mapo tofu and fried rice are also amazing, so I'd like to come back again for lunch when I get the chance.
This is my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. I recently visited after a long time, and the staff still remembered me! The restaurant and the food are both incredibly refined. ✨ Everything is so delicious that I couldn't put down my chopsticks or spoon! The sauce from the cold chicken is perfect for dipping the dumplings that come after, and it's simply divine! The braised shark fin with a slight char is also amazing, and the extra effort they put into preparing it is truly commendable. ♪♪♪ This time, they even had a katsu sandwich, which was surprisingly delicious and perfectly executed as a Chinese dish! The cold spicy and sour soup noodles for the finale were also fantastic, with their chewy texture and flavorful broth. After finishing the noodles, I couldn't resist ordering my all-time favorites, mapo tofu and dan dan noodles, and my stomach is incredibly happy! 🐷❣️ Thank you for the delicious meal! I will definitely be back again soon!
I visited for lunch. The location is almost in front of the Tsukiji Police Station, almost closer to Shintomichō Station than Higashi-Ginza Station. This restaurant has been my No. 1 favorite since I started using Tabelog. It's a famous restaurant where Hirofumi Saitō, the chef of "Ichirin Hanare" in Kamakura, a restaurant I've always wanted to visit, was originally the owner. They serve Spanish and Chinese fusion cuisine. I've always wanted to try it, but their special lunch menu is only available on weekdays, so I couldn't find the time to go. But I finally got the chance to visit. When I arrived, there was a line even on a weekday, so it's definitely a popular place. However, unlike the famous udon and ramen shops nearby, there weren't many inbound tourists, so I didn't have to wait too long to get in. I ordered the Chen Mapo Tofu Set for ¥1,300. The actual mapo tofu was... Delicious! Delicious! I wanted to say it over and over again. It was shockingly delicious! It's spicy, but the richness is even more intense. The balance of minced meat and miso is perfect! The soft tofu and the crispness of the green onions combine to create a mapo tofu that you can eat endlessly. And it's perfectly seasoned to go with rice! (Many authentic mapo tofu dishes don't go well with rice...) This is the ultimate mapo tofu! "Ichirin" is amazing! It's right up my alley! I'm in love with this flavor (laughs). The signature side dish, the "Yodare Dori" (Sizzling Chicken), is also delicious. It's tangy and spicy, with a rich sesame sauce, tender and juicy chicken, and a perfect touch of cilantro. The shumai (dumplings) are also delicious. What is this...? Such delicious Chinese food for ¥1,300 is incredible... "Ichirin" is truly the best. I love it so much! I've been using Tabelog for years, over 5 years now, and this is still one of my top favorites. I think I'll always be in love with this flavor. I definitely want to visit the "Ichirin Hanare" in Kamakura someday, holding a wad of cash. This is the best Chinese restaurant that made me want to do that again. It's a fantastic restaurant! The value for money at lunch is insane.
I joined the queue around 12:45 pm on a weekday. A few people were seated right as I joined, and I became the first group waiting. I was seated after a little over 10 minutes. I ordered the summer-only drool chicken cold noodles. They asked if I wanted cilantro and half a bowl of rice. The noodles arrived in a little over 5 minutes. I enjoyed the piping hot dumplings and egg soup before they cooled down. Both were absolutely delicious, especially the dumplings, which were chewy. The cold noodles were also amazing. I don't know what the spice was, but it had a distinct Chinese flavor and the various toppings in the bowl kept it interesting. The chicken was delicious, of course, and the cold noodles went well with the crushed peanuts. They also provided a paper bib, which was necessary as the noodles were quite messy. I would definitely order this again if I have the chance.
