A Russian restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. I went for lunch. I ordered the course with salad, soup, bread (refills available), main course, and dessert, and I had two main courses. The salad dressing was delicious. The borscht was also full of ingredients and delicious. The combination of warm bread and butter with vanilla beans was excellent. We shared the four main courses between two people. Everything was absolutely delicious. The final pudding was firm, rich, and very tasty. The service was also polite and the prices were reasonable. I can't find a reason not to go back. I will definitely go back when I have business in Asakusa.
This restaurant in Asakusa is renowned for its exceptional cabbage rolls. The cabbage rolls are incredibly tender, unlike anything you've ever tasted, and absolutely delicious. While they only offer a set course menu, their other dishes, such as piroshki and borscht, are equally delectable. At first glance, the restaurant might seem a bit intimidating, and you might feel hesitant about using the cutlery, but there's no stuffy atmosphere. Just relax and enjoy your meal! The staff are also very welcoming and friendly. It's truly delicious!
I recently visited "Bona Festa," a Russian restaurant in Asakusa. I was excited to try Russian cuisine, as I don't get to eat it very often. The restaurant has 28 seats, with a focus on spacious tables. It has a cozy, homey atmosphere, like visiting someone's house. The courses allow you to choose your favorite soup and main dish. It's great that everyone can choose what they want to eat. We started with a toast with sparkling wine. The first dish was homemade pickles. The colorful pickles had a refreshing, tangy flavor. Next came the scallop fritters. The light, crispy batter was fluffy and the saltiness was just right. We paired it with white wine. For appetizers, we chose a platter of homemade Wagyu pork prosciutto and roast ham. The famous piroshki. We enjoyed them by hand. The tomato acidity, the presence of the minced meat, and the sweetness of the onion were all noticeable. The fluffy, light, and juicy bread dough was also delicious. We added Russian dumplings, pelmeni, as an option to the course. The chewy dough was packed with meat. We enjoyed them with tomatoes. We paired the meat with red wine. For the course soup, we chose the pot-style cream soup. It came in a pie-wrapped style, and the moment you break the pie is exciting. Inside, there was a rich, creamy soup with chunks of mushrooms, seafood, and other ingredients. And here it is, the dish I was looking forward to! Russian-style braised cabbage. It's braised in bouillon for 4-5 hours, creating a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It's beautiful to look at! Inside, there's a beautiful mille-feuille of minced meat and cabbage, so tender that a knife cuts through it easily. It has a pleasant acidity and richness, and every bite is a delight. For dessert, we enjoyed coffee in the traditional Russian way. Classic gateau chocolat. The dense gateau chocolat was paired with a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth cream. The warm coffee was topped with plenty of whipped cream. The rim of the glass was dusted with sugar. The coffee had a slightly sweet, gentle flavor. All the dishes were unique and delicious, and I had a wonderful time. I definitely want to come back again. Thank you for the meal!
Russian cuisine is a nice change of pace sometimes! I visited "Bona Festa," a Russian restaurant located a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Station. It has received the BRONZE AWARD for three consecutive years until 2020. I made a reservation for 11:30 AM on a weekday. I ordered the "Russian-style Cabbage Roll Stew" lunch course for ¥3,620, which includes the classic borscht and cabbage rolls. As it's getting colder, borscht is perfect! The rich meat flavor and the tangy soup are delicious. It warms you up! The cabbage rolls are braised for 8 hours, making them incredibly tender. The layered cabbage and ground meat pair perfectly with the tomato and sour cream sauce. It's delicious. The final hot coffee was a surprise. It came with whipped cream and sugar on the rim of the wine glass. It was delicious. I enjoyed the entire meal. **Course Contents:** ① Appetizer Salad ② Soup: Tomato-flavored Borscht Soup (or Cream Soup in a Pot or Baked Sea Urchin and Egg Soup) ③ Main: Russian-style Cabbage Roll Stew (or Russian-style Soft Hamburg Steak or Wagyu Fillet Stroganoff or Scallops with Sea Urchin Sauce) Rye bread included ④ Dessert: Homemade Pudding ⑤ Coffee (or Tea) I enjoyed the entire meal. While the Russian government is guilty of its actions in the Ukraine war, Russian cuisine is innocent!
I recently had lunch at Bonafesta, a place I've loved for a long time. It's a real favorite of mine! 💖 Did you know that Asakusa actually has a lot of Russian restaurants?💡 The lunch course I had included: 💚 A mini salad of the chef's choice 🧡 Cream soup in a pot 🤍 Russian-style cabbage rolls 🍮 Homemade pudding Bonafesta's cream soup is covered in a pie crust, and when you eat it, the soup and the pie combine for a truly blissful experience! 💕 The cabbage rolls, which I was eagerly awaiting, were absolutely stunning! ✨ They're simmered in broth for 4-5 hours, creating a melt-in-your-mouth texture. 🥹 The beautiful, layered cross-section is a testament to the perfect balance of the tomato's gentle acidity and the minced meat. 🥰 I forgot to take a picture of the dessert, but when you order tea, they bring out strawberry jam instead of sugar, which is a lovely touch. 🍓 The warm, homey atmosphere made for a truly wonderful experience. ✨ I love Bonafesta's piroshki, beef stroganoff, and crispy shrimp wrapped in potato, so I'll definitely be back soon! 💕 When I was a kid, I tried their piroshki for the first time and was completely blown away. I became obsessed and bought so many! I still haven't found a piroshki that comes close to theirs. 🥰 Everything they make is so delicious, I just love it! ✨ Eating there again after all this time brought back so many memories, including that first time I tried their food. ☺️ We had the place to ourselves, so we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. ❣️
